Areeba Munir

Hello! My name is Areeba Munir and I am currently a clinical psychologist in training at The Chicago School. I’m pursuing a PsyD in clinical psychology and work under the supervision of Dr. Manizeh Raza here at Arcus Behavioral Health and Wellness. I received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School in 2026. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Loyola University Chicago alongside a minor in neuroscience in 2023.

My aim at Arcus is to create an empathetic, safe, and culturally sensitive environment. I practice from a relational perspective, which assists in highlighting individual emotional experiences, our relationships with others, and fostering a therapeutic alliance that promotes trust, comfort, and vulnerability. I enjoy pulling from psychodynamic and humanistic-existential orientations to guide my work with individuals. When meeting clients, my objective is to obtain a holistic conceptualization of who they are and their life experiences. This includes attending to cultural background, facets of identity, past trauma and relationships, as well as systemic components that govern access to health and safety on a daily basis. My goal is to help marginalized communities navigate complex emotional and psychological challenges in order to better understand themselves and their place in the world around them.

My previous experience includes training in psychological assessment, neurobehavioral therapy, and working with nonprofit organizations in Chicago to increase access to mental health care and basic necessities across Chicago. Doing this has fueled my passion for working with marginalized communities and leading with a trauma informed lens, rather than enforcing a symptom-reduction approach that pathologizes others. I believe that all individuals deserve to, and have the capacity to improve their mental health. I look forward to meeting you as you begin your journey to self-awareness and potential.
